The art of cleaning and caring for nubuck shoes

You've just purchased a pair of J.M. Weston shoes; their future is in your hands. Regular care helps preserve the leather's suppleness and enhance its appearance. Here are three essential steps for caring for your J.M. Weston nubuck leather shoes, which should be renewed every three to four wears.

1. Brushing: gently remove impurities

Over time, your shoes require special care. Start by gently brushing your shoes to remove dust and dirt.

Use the J.M. Weston horsehair brush and use light strokes to avoid damaging the material and to prepare it for the next step.

2. Cleaning: gently remove dirt

Over time, dust and dirt can dull the appearance of your shoes. A thorough cleaning preserves the material without damaging it and removes stains. Apply J.M. Weston suede, nubuck, and textile cleaner diluted with 50% water using a soft brush.

Rinse the brush and scrub again to remove dirt and suds. Leave to dry for six hours away from heat and sunlight to avoid damaging the texture of the leather, and use the J.M. Weston horsehair brush again, using light strokes to restore the nubuck's velvety appearance.

3. Finish: revive and protect

After cleaning, apply J.M. Weston Protective Spray. Shake and spray evenly from a distance of 20 cm over the entire surface. Allow to dry for 20 minutes before wearing again.

This spray protects your shoes from moisture and should be applied at least once a week.
